Prop Trading: How Traders Get Funded by Prop Firms
What Is Prop Trading
Proprietary trading (prop trading) is a model in which traders receive access to capital provided by a proprietary trading firm and trade using the firm's funds. In return, the profit generated from trading is shared between the trader and the company according to predefined terms.
In recent years, prop trading has become extremely popular among retail traders, primarily because it allows them to trade with significantly larger capital without risking large amounts of their own money.
Most prop firms require traders to pass a challenge phase — an evaluation stage where traders must demonstrate the stability of their trading strategy while strictly following the firm's risk management rules.
Once the challenge is successfully completed, the trader receives a funded account, which can range from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Our Experience Passing a Prop Firm Challenge
Our team recently tested our proprietary trading strategy by participating in a prop firm challenge.
During the evaluation phase, the strategy demonstrated consistent performance, and all trades executed within this testing period were closed with a profit. As a result, the challenge was successfully completed, and we received a funded trading account with $100,000 in capital.
We documented the entire process, including:
- the rules and restrictions used by prop firms
- the risk management requirements traders must follow
- how our strategy was applied during the challenge
A detailed breakdown of the challenge and the trading results will be presented in a special video episode on our RuTube channel.
Prop Trading Discussions in Our Private Telegram Community
Prop trading has become one of the most actively discussed topics among traders, especially since there are now many prop firms on the market and their reliability and payout policies can vary significantly.
For this reason, we created a private Telegram community for our users, where we actively discuss prop trading and funded account opportunities.
Inside the community we:
- discuss the conditions of different prop firms
- share real experiences of passing prop firm challenges
- explain trading rules and evaluation requirements
- analyze strategies suitable for funded accounts
- help traders choose prop firms that have a proven record of paying traders
Members of the community can ask questions, exchange experiences, and receive support from both our team and other traders.
